A medic, said to be a fake MBBS, has been hospitalised after being beaten by an irate mob when one of his woman patients, who had been undergoing for breast tumor for last six months fell critically ill, police investigating the mob violence said on July 4.

Rakesh Mondal had been practising medicines near the Lock Gate area at Adarsh Nagar under Sonarpur police station, South 24 Pargapans, with bill board MBBS for past two years. He was treating the woman for a tumor in one of her breasts for past six months but her condition deteriorated on Monday, When he was called and initially refused to come but the local people forced him to come home and see the patient. When he applied saline and medicines on the patient the woman fell unconscious and had to be admitted to a hospital at Jadavpur.The local people on Tuesday found the medic was a fake MBBS and beat up him badly before police arrived and admitted him to MR Bangur Hospital.
