Meghalaya sues Assam on medical seats

Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, Roshan Warjri today said the Supreme Court has admitted a petition filed the Meghalaya government against the Assam government in connection with its “unilateral” decision to abolish ten reserved medical seats.

 

 

 

 

 

The Court has listed the matter for hearing on September 11.Ms Warjri said a prayer to include the Medical Council of India as a party in the case Ten affected MBBS students along with their parents had also met Ms Warjri and sought to know the status of the matter.

The Health Minister said the government took legal recourse against the Assam government because the students who have been selected to pursue MBBS course in Assam have got limited time for getting admission."We hope the court would pass a favourable verdict for the interest of the affected students," she said.
