In a tragic incident, a 3rd year medical student of VSSIMSAR drowned in Hirakud reservoir on March 4.

The deceased is identified is a 20-year-old from New Delhi. The incident took place around 1.30 pm when six boys went to the Pahadi Baba temple near Jawahar Minar in Burla end of the dam for darshan on account of Maha Sivaratri. The students went for a bath in the reservoir before visiting the temple when the tragic incident took place.

The boy somehow went deep into the water and drowned. All attempt of his friends to rescue him from the water went futile. The fire brigade team also rushed to the spot but retrieved the body of the boy from the reservoir. The incident sent a shock wave in VSSIMSAR. The medial authorities informed the parents of the boy living in New Delhi.
