The Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted Letter of Permission (LOP) to the government run Medical Colleges in Balasore and  Bolangir to commence admissions from this year 2018-19.

The two new medical colleges will admit one hundred seats each in the MBBS course and will fulfill the advanced healthcare needs of the people in the region and also boost professional manpower in the state The MCI has also granted permission for 100 seats each in 2nd year at PRM MCH, Baripada & SLNMCH Koraput along with 250 seats each at SCB MCH Cuttack and MKCG MCH at Berhampur. Two superspeciality seats in DM (Endocrinology) at MKCGMCH have been increased for the year 2018-19, official sources said.
