PTI Mar 29, 2018

Medical students from SGRR medical college staged a protest on 28 March in Dehradun, objecting the decision to hike the annual fees to a exorbitant amount.

Students of a private medical college here have hit the streets to protest against exorbitant hike in the annual fees by the college administration. Holding placards, students of SGRR medical college staged a dharna here in protest against the college administration's decision to effect a manifold hike in the annual fees.

Besides SGRR Medical college, Himalayan Medical college and Subharti Medical college have hiked their annual fees for a medical course from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 19 lakh. The placards appealed to the college administration to revoke the decision as middle class families could not afford it. The decision follows a cabinet move giving private medical colleges the freedom to decide their own fees.
