LG reviews readiness to combat vector-borne diseases

Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal on Thursday chaired the third meeting to review preparedness and status of measures taken to combat vector-borne diseases and seasonal influenza and ordered the hospitals to ensure availability of sufficient stock of test kits and medicines for treatment of dengue, chikungunya and malaria.

 

 

 


At the meeting at the Raj Niwas here, he emphasised on motivating the general public to participate in the prevention of breeding of mosquitoes and involvement of school students in awareness programs for containment of vector-borne diseases.Baijal also focused on intensification of vector control activities and community awareness activities in identified high-risk wards and underprivileged areas, unauthorised colonies and JJ clusters.

He directed for a regular meetings at the level of District Magistrates with all stakeholders to review the situation in their respective districts and also directed that all offices/institutes should designate a nodal officer responsible to carry out vector-borne control related activities whose name and contact details must be made available at prominent sites in the offices/institutes.The meeting was also attended by Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, NDMC Chairman, the state Health Secretary, all three Municipal Commissioners and DTC Managing Director.The earlier meetings were held in April and May.
