Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has assured that the files pertaining to Mohalla Clinics in the city will be cleared by Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday.
Sisodia said Baijal had further assured that he would call them on Monday or Tuesday in case any clarification was needed and will clear the files by September 5.Mohalla Clinics is a pet project of the Aam Aadmi Party government that was launched in 2015 to set up 1,000 clinics across Delhi.Only 160 clinics have been set up so far, as the project ran into red tape. On Wednesday, over 40 AAP MLAs laid siege to Raj Niwas, the official residence of the Lt Governor, for over six hours and accused him of "sitting" over files pertaining to the Mohalla Clinics.Later, Baijal clarified that no file was pending with him and dubbed the conduct of ruling party MLAs as "rude and discourteous".
On Thursday, speaking to the media after meeting Baijal, Sisodia said the government received the files around 6 p.m. on Wednesday and these were sent back to Baijal on Thursday evening after they were processed. "The L-G said we all will get together and set up Mohalla clinics," he said. Sisodia said there shouldn't be any politics on Mohalla Clinics as these pertained to the healthcare for the poor.He said no blame game should be played to ensure that "no Gorakhpur-like tragedy occurs in Delhi".
