Kerala fails to spend central funds for virology institute
UNI May 22, 2018
A political party president from Kerala on May 21 said that the state government failed miserably to spend the funds of Rs 35 crore allocated by the union government for setting up an advanced virology institute in Alappuzha.
The state BJP president raised the allegation against the Left government in the wake of more deaths due to the spread of deadly 'Nipah Virus' in the northern parts of Kerala. He said the government should cancel all its second anniversary celebrations and take urgent steps to save the lives of people infected by the deadly virus.
"Now, Kerala used to witness the spread of many communicable diseases, which appeared only in foreign nations, proving its role-model claim -- Kerala Health Model -- is fake and is aimed at covering up its failure," Rajasekharan said. "The bereaved family of the nurse, who died while treating a patient infected by Nipha Virus, should be given a compensation of Rs 25 lakh by the Government," he demanded.
