Kangra has recorded the highest number of HIV+ cases of the 12 districts in Himachal Pradesh.
 

With the state recording over 9,141 cases, Kangra topped the list with over 2,629 cases, followed by Hamirpur 1,824 HIV cases.During an awareness programme at Government Degree College at Matour on Tuesday, District AIDS Program Officer S Nikhil Gupta said of the 3,531 HIV+ full blown cases of AIDS, Kangra again topped the list with 1021, followed by 802 AIDS at Hamirpur with 1,824 HIV cases.

Dr Gupta claimed that AIDS Control Program is globally acclaimed as a success story.He said that the HP Health Department is providing free services of integrated counseling at testing centre, prevention of parent to child transmission for anti-natal mothers, anti- retro viral drugs, link ART Centers to patients.College Principal Rashmi Ramol said that the awareness among the students and teenage boys and girls regarding HIV was of utmost importance.
