Jipmer to conduct online exam on June 2

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) will conduct the online entrance examination for admission to first year MBBS course in two shifts on June 2, Director of JIPMER, said on March 5.


Talking to news persons Director Dr Rakesh Aggarwal said that the morning shift will be from 1000 hrs to 1230 hrs and afternoon session from 1500 hrs to 1730 hrs. JIPMER expects as many as 2 lakh candidates to register for the online examination, Dr Aggarwal said, adding that the number of those registered last year was 1,97,745. He said selection for JIPMER Karaikal campus candidates would be there this year also.

He further added that economically weaker section category has been introduced as per the directions of Government of India from this year onwards. There are 200 seats in JIPMER with 150 for Puducherry and 50 for karaikal campus. Dr Aggarwal said that the online registration will commence from March 5 and the last date for registration is 12th April. Hall tickets could be downloaded from Jipmer website from May 20 to June 2.

Asked about the allegation of sexual harassment by a Jipmer P G student and case registered by the D Nagar police, the director said that a committee comprising of senior faculty members has been constituted to go into the issue, saying that anything could be stated only after getting its report.
