Jipmer celebrates Annual Research Day

Jawharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) celebrated its third Annual Research Day yesterday and today.
A Jipmer release said the Research Day is being celebrated to showcase the best of research done at JIPMER in the recent past, to honour the outstanding researchers, and to inspire and motivate doctors in all stages of professional career to take up medical research. Eminent Scientists, Researchers, Faculty, PhD Scholars, Post graduates and undergraduates shared their research activities and their notable achievements in the celebrations. Dr T Ramasami, Former Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Governmentt of India inaugurated the Research Day and released a Souvenir in the presence of Dr S C Parija, Director, JIPMER. A Symposium on “Recent advances in Neurology” was held in which experts from PGIMER, AIIMS,and SGPGI, Lucknow presented sessions and chaired by Dr.Sarat Chandra, AIIMS, New Delhi.
Another symposium on “Research in Mental Health Sciences: Challenges and Opportunities” was held in which experts from CMC and NIMHANS presented sessions and chaired by Dr.R.P.Swaminathan, Dean (Academics), JIPMER. Research papers (oral and posters) and highlights of research in various departments were presented on the first day which was chaired by Dr.J.Balachander, Medical Superintendent, JIPMER. BIMSTEC research Priorities was held in which BIMSTEC representatives and JIPMER Research Group jointly discussed on the objectives and action plan. Dr Parija chaired a session on JIPMER Innovation Facilitation Unit. Prof. Vishnu Bhat, Dean (Research) chaired the presentation by Young Minds of JIPMER. Research awards under various categories were presented.
