Japan keen to support India in providing quality health infrastructure

Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu on December 11 said Japan is keen to support India in providing high-quality health infrastructure to common people.
The Japanese Government will support the Indian healthcare sector by actively getting involved in the Ayushmann Bharath, an initiative by the Indian Govt to provide high-quality health infrastructure to common people, specific cooperation that includes training of doctors, nurses and other caregivers.
Attending the inauguration of ‘Terumo Penpol JIM’, a joint initiative by the Terumo Penpol and the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM), the Ambassador congratulated Terumo Penpol on being part of JIM, an initiative jointly ventured by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India.
Mentioning that how the concept of JIM was achieved by the effective engagement of prime ministers of both the countries, the Ambassador said the JIM aims to educate more than 30,000 manufacturing students by the year 2026. As part of the collaboration between India and Japan, a MOC was signed in November 2016 to train floor shop leaders and engineers to Japanese standards in the next ten years through Japan India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM).
Through this the Japanese style discipline and manufacturing skills will be shared and taught to the young people of India. Japan and India are cooperating in human resources/skill development in the manufacturing sector in India through collaboration between the public and private sectors of both countries in order to contribute to the “Make in India and “Skill India” initiatives proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Delivering the key note address Dr. Usha Titus, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, spoke highly about Japan and its unparalleled manufacturing practices and their habit of honoring the commitments they make to the world.
Speaking of Terumo Penpol, she named it a Jewel in the industrial landscape of Kerala. As a representative from the Kerala Govt she expressed the gratitude from its side for engaging an organization from Kerala for the execution of JIM. The special address was delivered by Mr. Probhir Das, he mentioned about centenary year celebrations of Terumo Corporation that is coming up in the year 2021. He emphasized on the mission of the organization which is “contributing to society through healthcare” and how the organizations priority was in contributing rather than gaining. The union leaders of different trade unions was invited to deliver the vote of thanks, which they delivered with great diligence and at the same time expressed their happiness in including them for the event.
