J&K health minister reviews healthcare arrangements in border areas

The Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Davinder Kumar Manyal on May 20 reviewed healthcare arrangements in areas affected by Pakistani shelling along the International Border (IB).
He directed officials to deploy adequate staff and critical care ambulances to meet any emergency. Five people, including a BSF personnel, were killed and 12 others injured in Pakistani shelling along the IB in the R S Pura and Arnia sectors of Jammu and Samba districts on 18 May. Taking stock of arrangements at various health institutions in the border areas, the minister directed officials to ensure that adequate staff and critical care ambulances be deployed to meet emergencies.
Manyal also directed the health department to ensure that injured persons are provided best possible medical treatment, an official spokesman said. The minister sought details of make-shift camps, established by the administration, for displaced border residents and directed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements for their comfortable stay, he said Earlier, the minister visited the Government Medical College here and inquired about the condition of the those injured during the cross-border shelling.
