The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, Pathology, Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery, and Cardiology JIPMER, jointly hosted the 31st Annual Conference and International Symposium on Atherosclerosis Conference (ISARCON 2018) from 11th to 13th October.

According to a Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) release on October 17, Indian society of atherosclerosis research (ISAR) was the Indian body of international association. Atherosclerosis is a disease which causes high blood pressure, heart attacks, brain strokes and kidney failure which are the dominant diseases affecting Indian population at large.

The ISARCON 2018 theme was past, present and future of atherosclerosis- where do we stand? There were several international and national faculties who have shared their views on treatment and new approaches for management of atherosclerosis, which may benefit patients- all with the goals to treat, and ultimately prevent, this agonising disease.
