Indian surgeon contributes chapter in new textbook of Cardiology based on his research

Dr Lokeswara Rao Sajja, Cardiothoracic Surgeon of Star Hospitals has contributed a chapter on Surgery of Coronary Artery Disease to the prestigious new Textbook on Cardiology (CSI Textbook of Cardiology – An Indian Perspective) based on his own research and the research from other Indian cardiac surgeons.
This Textbook, and Dr Sajja’s in depth chapter that draws on extensive research coupled with personal experience, has become the most sought after resource for doctors and medical students. His work also quoted by cardiac surgeons from Japan. Referring to his work, Dr Sajja said “I wanted to create more awareness in international medical circles about the treatment of CAD in India, and to shed light on the differences in the disease between India and the rest of the world. I also wanted, through my work in this Textbook, to put India on par with the rest of the world, in terms of diagnosis and treatment of Coronary Artery Disease.”
Through the section of the book that he has written, Dr Sajja has enlightened medical professionals across the world that “Coronary Artery Disease in Indians is a special subset, quite unlike the western world, and merits customized attention...Indian guidelines need to be developed with indigenous data and disseminated and regulated for compliance.”
Through his contribution to this Textbook, Dr Sajja has further demonstrated his commitment to Cardiac treatment and care, and his humaneness and concern for sufferers of Coronary Artery Disease. With over 28 years of experience in the field, Dr Sajja completed MBBS from Guntur Medical College, MS – General Surgery from JIPMER, Pondicherry and MCh – Cardiothoracic Surgery from AIIMS, New Delhi.
