Increase awareness on cancer: Maha Governor

Maharastra Governor Vidyasagar Rao on on 4 February said that steps should be taken to ensure that people are made aware of Cancer.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for 200 bedded Pratima Cancer Institute, constructed at a cost of Rs 150 crore in 100 acres of land at Arepalli in Warnagal Urban district, Mr Rao said that if cancer found initially, the mortality of the disease would be reduced. Lakhs of people had lost their lives due to lake of awareness on cancer, the governor said and expressed his grief over one women dying in every eight minutes due to Cancer.
About 10 lakh people are new cancer victims in every year, Mr Rao said and urged the doctors and researchers to come forward with comprehensive initiatives to recognize and prevent the cancer. Legislative Assembly Speaker Madhusudanachari, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Ministers Etala Rajendar, Chandulal, MPs Vinod Kumar, Sitaram Nayak and Pasupuri Dayakar among others particiated in the event.
