In death, 11-yr-old gives new lease of life to four

UNI Sep 22, 2017

The family of a 11-year-old brain dead girl in Sinnar tehsil of Nashik donated her organs giving a fresh lease of life to four people.

The organs were transported to Pune, Mumbai and Solapur for which a green corridor was formed on the connecting roads on Wednesday. Tejshri Ramdas Shelke, who used to reside at Shivde village in Sinnar Tehsil, was a student of Janata Vidyalay in Pandhurli. She was the elder daughter of Ramesh and Jyoti Shelke. The tragedy took place last week when Tejshri was playing football on the school ground when she collapsed and became unconscious. She immediately rushed her to local hospital and on last Monday shifted her to Vasantrao Pawar medical college in Adgaon near Nashik where the doctors declared her brain-dead. Tejshri's family then decided to donate her organs.

As per their wish, the doctors decided to operate on her and shifted her to Rishikesh hospital on Gangpur road, in Nashik. Her heart was brought to Mumbai, liver to Pune and kidneys to Solapur and Nashik through a green corridor. Her eyes have been donated to an eye hospital in Nashik.
