The Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch, on July 30 convened an emergency meeting and condemned the incident of destroying hospital property and injuring the health care provider at Thoubal District hospital on July 28 last.

Dr Ratan Konjengbam, state secretary of IMA-Manipur state branch said such incidents will never bring a healthy society rather it will lead to suffering of the peoples including the doctors particularly the poorer section of the society. The Government and authority need to take up measures to protect the health institution and ensuring a conducive environment to save the people in the interest of a sane society, he added. The attack was done by family members and locals after a boy died at the hospital.
