Hyd to become biotechnology, Medical technology hub : Ranjan

Telangana Government Industries and Commerce Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan today said that Hyderabad will become hub of Biotechnology and Medical Technology. 

 

 

 


Addressing after launching Atal Incubation centre (AIC) at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) here, Ranjan said that Hyderabad had 34 Incubators and achieved 4th position in the country.T-Hub in Hyderabad is a national role model, he said Rs.250 Crores sanctioned for Start-ups in the State.The Global Entrepreneurs Summit will be held in Hyderabad, he informed. In his address, he emphasized the need of such Centres and the focus of the State Government in making Hyderabad as hub of biotechnology and medical technology. Speaking on the occasion, CCMB Director Dr Rakesh Mishra, said that CSR funding is an advantage for CCMB. Technology developed at CCMB has wide applications.

 
CCMB has recently started Apple plantation in Araku valley in Andhra Pradesh and Adilabad in Telangana states, he said the Centre pro-active approach for involving best talent and doing good research in Bio-informatics and wildlife forensics. Hyderabad is the hub of vaccines and pharmaceutics industry and is positioned to be world leader in bio-therapeutics, the Director said that all the discoveries in the laboratory are not being translated into the products and processes due to lack of mentors and absence of entrepreneurial ecosystem conducive for transnational activities. CCMB, a premier biology institute, Government of India, was recently awarded a project to facilitate the start-up entrepreneurs in biotechnology by one of ‘‘NITI AAYOG’’ program called Atal Innovation Mission. 


AIC-CCMB Coordinator Dr N.M. Rao, said that the new company, a part of CSIC- CCMB, is focused on establishing a network of mentors and stakeholders in biotechnology to help the start-up incubatees’ at the Centre besides providing infrastructure. CCMB entered into MoUs with three companies for Research in Life Sciences. Several industry pioneers of Hyderabad including Pradeep Mittal, Ajit Ragnekar, Anand Govindluri, Shakti Nagappan and Krishna Ella also have graced the occasion.
