Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar on July 11 met Union Health Minister JP Nadda in Delhi and requested him to sanction a state cancer institute in Shimla.

Parmar also discussed various issues pertaining to the Health Ministry, an official release said. Parmar informed Nadda that the state was paying Rs 1,250 per month to ASHA workers, more than the amount fixed by the central government, and sought funds to the tune of Rs 9.5 crore to meet this expenditure, it added. He also sought funds for the under-construction super specialty block of the state's premier health centre Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla, the release said. The Himachal Pradesh health minister appealed to Nadda to increase the Centre's contribution to the National Ambulance Service, commonly known as 108 ambulances, in the state from 20 percent to 90 percent in view of its tough topographical conditions, it said.
