High on spirit, spinal injury survivors leave audience spellbound with performance

Survivors of serious spinal injuries showcased their unwavering spirit by putting on a series of power-packed performances to mark the 2nd Spinal Cord Injury Day.
Held at Talkatora Stadium on Tuesday, the event was hosted by Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) to increase awareness about spinal injuries and their treatment as well as advocating the need for greater social inclusivity for persons with disabilities.Olympian Sakshi Malik was chief guest, cheering the participants at their every move and every step. The audience was left spellbound as the survivors put on an exhilarating display of their talent and indomitable spirit as they marched on with gusto -- some on wheelchairs, others on crutches.
"For the second consecutive year, ISIC is happy to create an opportunity to spread awareness amongst people sensitizing them to encourage a positive and supporting environment for persons with disabilities," said Major H.P.S Ahluwalia, Chairman, ISIC during the event."The various acts and musicals performed by the survivors provides a powerful glimpse into how they have fought against all odds to retain and nurture their undying love for life. I am honored to be present amongst them, and am inspired beyond words in seeing them perform," said Olympian Sakshi Malik.
