Health officer arrested on bribery charge

The Joint Director of Health Services of Dhemaji in northern Assam Dr Abdul Latif, was on August 27 arrested by sleuths of Anti-corruption bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe in his office at Dhemaji.
An Assam Police spokesperson said here Dr Latif was arrested from his office at Dhemaji on August 27 evening while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from one Mridul Sarma for clearing a bill. The accused officer had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 18000 (10% of the bill amount of Rs 1.83 lakh) from the complainant. Sarmah lodged a complaint with the Anti-corruption bureau and acting on it, the arrest was made. The arrested person will be produced before the Special Court at Guwahati tomorrow.
