The Minister for Healthcare & Human Services A K Ghatani inaugurated Primary Health Centre at Lachung, North Sikkim on July 24.

The centre spread over 2500sq ft has been properly equipped, with 2 units of quarters attached. It has been built at total cost of Rs 1 crore and 29 Lakhs only. The PHC in Lachung, at 8610 ft height,comes as a great relief to public, those plying and hosting tourists and accident victims in addition to routine patients.

The Pipon Lachung Dzumsa (recognised at par with Gram Panchayats) requested Minister to send a Doctor, Nurse, and Ambulance instead of only a Nurse.Minister has agreed saying ‘though Government of India norms do not provide for a doctor in a PHC’ yet he would make some arrangements,by converting it in course of time into a Wellness centre.
