Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Mumru on June 20 distributed Cryo machine used in the treatment of cervical cancer among the civil surgeons of the Santhal Pargana division at Sahibganj, Jharkhand.​

Addressing a function organised on this occasion she said that there was a need to create awareness among the women regarding cervical cancer. She also thanked the team of doctors which had come all the way from Delhi to participate in a mega health check up organised on the spot.​

She said that the women are known for their services and dedication therefore they must remain healthy and disease free. She said that with the well being of the women only the nation will move forward. Ms Murmu said that girls should not be married at a tender age as they face the risk of cervical cancer and asked the women to pay attention towards cleanliness and hygiene and also asked them to take balanced diet.​

​The Governor said that members of the primitive tribes group live in far off villages and their life expectancy rate was very less therefore there was a need to create awareness among them towards health care. She said that by taking balanced food and maintaining healthy diet they will be able to contribute in the progress of the district, state and the nation.

Speaking on the occasion Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi said that every year 67000 deaths are​ ​being reported due to cervical cancer and said that in Jharkhand the women reeling under this disease will be provided government help. He also outlined the various schemes which have been launched by the state government in the healthcare sector.​ ​Those present on the occasion also included Rajmahal MLA Anant Ojha, Chairperson of IMA Women's Wing Bharti Kashyap and others.​
