Government says MR vaccine is safe

Deputy Commissioner, Punjab Sumeet Jarangal on May 3 said that the Measles-Rubella vaccine which is administered to children is totally safe.

 


This was disclosed by him while inaugurating a MR vaccination camp at Akal Academy here. Mr Jarangal said MR vaccination is totally safe for humans and it was tested by World Health Organization (WHO). He said that health department of state has also tested MR Vaccine and department has started this vaccination to make Punjab Measle free by 2020 and to control the Rubella disease across the state.

Mr Sumeet said that so for 8 crore children have been vaccinated across the country and not even a single case of its side effects was detected. He appealed the parents for vaccination of their children during this campaign. He said that in district more than 2 lack children will be vaccinated during this campaign. Punjab government has ordered strict action against those who are spreading baseless rumours regarding Measle-Rubella (MR) vaccine in the society by social media.

Mr Jarangal said that some anti-social elements are spreading baseless rumours regarding its side effects and there was no truth in such viral messages. He said that government has asked the cyber crime cell of Punjab Police to identify such elements and deal with them as per law of land. On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Sukhpal Singh Brar said that so for more than 15000 students have been vaccinated in the District by various medical teams.

He said that Measles and Rubella both are serious disease and this single vaccine will save our children from these both. He said health department has launched this campaign to make sure total immunization so that its further spread could be checked properly.
Thursday's camp was started with the vaccination of children of health department officials and school teachers' in the presence of Deputy Commissioner to motivate the other parents for vaccination of their children. On this occasion, senior health government officials were also present.
