Government establishes four new Medical Colleges after formation of Telangana: Minister

Telangana Health Minister informed the Assembly on 18th September that four new Medical Colleges were established after the formation of Telangana state.
Replying to questions from members in the house during question hour, he said that the new Medical Colleges were established at Mahabubnagar, Siddipet, Suryapet and Nalgonda. AIIMS, Bibinagar also started in 2019 with 50 MBBS seats, the Minister said and added that after formation of Telangana state ( in 2014), 298 new post-graduate seats and 5 new super-specialty seats have been added.
He said 167 Professors and 360 Associate Professors vacant posts were filled through promotions. About 711 Posts of Assistant Professors were filled by direct recruitment and surrenders and 59 Tutor posts by direct recruitment, the Minister added. The age of superannuation of Teaching faculty was raised from 58 years to 65 years to overcome the faculty deficiency and Career Advancement Scheme was introduced for time bound promotions, he said.
At present a total number of 4,793 Medical seats were available from 11 Government and 23 private Medical Colleges in the state, he said.
