Fortis Hospitals organise 3rd walkathon in Mumbai for organ donation

With an aim to create awareness about Organ Donation across the country in view of over five lakh Indians lose their lives waiting for an organ every year, teams across Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai, organised the ‘More to Give’ walkathon on November 25.
The walkathon, currently in its third edition, was flagged off by tennis ace Kyra Shroff and Ghazal singer Talat Aziz, along with the medical and non-medical teams from Fortis Hospitals, an official release stated. The 3.2-km walkathon commenced and concluded at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, which witnessed over 1,000 participants and garnered over
800 organ donation pledges.
The initiative witnessed participation from Jyeshtha Shreshtha & Friends of Fortis (groups), along with disabled individuals from Jagruti Sanstha. Speaking about the cause at the walkathon, Kyra Shroff said, "I believe in this cause whole-heartedly. I hope that the future of the country, the youth, take this progressive step with us, to build a healthier nation."
While, Talat Aziz said, "... I am heartened to see so many fellow Mumbaikars, young and old alike, coming together and taking to the streets; definitely a progressive step towards strengthening the cause." At the same time, to connect with the rest of the Mumbaikars who could not attend the walk, the Fortis Mumbai also hosted a ‘Virtual Walkathon’ which garnered over 5,88,396 organ donation pledges.
The initiative was supported by Dr S Narayani, Zonal director at Fortis Hospital, Sandeep Guduru, Facility director at Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi-A Fortis Network Hospital, Dr Hiren Ambegaokar, chief executive at S L Raheja Hospital, Mahim-A Fortis Associate & Dr Supriya Amey, Facility director at Fortis Hospital, Kalyan.
