Five day free plastic surgery camp to be held in Aurangabad

To commemorate the 43rd birth anniversary of late Dr Sharad Kumar Dicksheet, a five-day free plastic surgery camp will be organized at Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) Campus here between December 13 to 17.
The camp is being jointly planned by Lions club of Aurangabad Chikalthana,MGM Medical Research Center, and Aurangabad Chemist and Druggists Association (ACDA). Talking to mediapersons,Project Chairman Rajesh Lahurikar said,"This is the 43rd year of organizing such free plastic surgery camp. Till last year,more than 13,000 total surgeries have been performed so far."
"This year we expect to perform more than 900 surgeries and around 1,500 checkup during the five day camp," added Mr Lahurikar. As per the sketched plan,the ACDA will provide all the medicines free of cost for the surgeries while MGM hospital will provide operation theater and qualified doctors and nursing staff. During the past 35 years, late Dr Sharad Kumar Dicksheet performed 2.5 lakh cost-free plastic surgeries in 40 cities across India. He was honoured with many awards including the coveted Padma Shri award.He passed away on November 14,2011 in the US.
