First international conference on metabolic disease in India– ‘SwasthyaCON 2019’ in Ahmedabad on Jan 12-13

The first International Conference on Metabolic Disease in India, ‘SwasthyaCON 2019’ will be held on January 12 and 13 at the Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Ahmedabad.
Jointly organized by All India Institute of Diabetes Research (AIIDR) and Ahmedabad based Swasthya Diabetes Care and supported by International Diabetes Federation and D FOOT International, the two-day event to be inaugurated by DyCM cum health minister Nitin Patel would be a platform for stakeholders to discuss the current situation, challenges and advancement relating to the complications of Diabetes. Altogether 900 participants including several from international arena would participate in it.
Chairman of Swasthya Diabetes Care, Dr Mayur Patel said that in tune with the theme - A journey from Traditional to Clinical - new evidence-based data and successfully-applicable advance therapy options (Clinical) will be presented while also including time-tested (Traditional) alternatives. The approach of this enlightening event is “Learn, Share & Teach”.
With Diabetes management workshops, plenary sessions, interactive case discussions, e Poster Presentations, and exciting quizzes, the conference will become an ideal platform to connect with experts. Doctors from various parts of India, Asia & Africa, can look forward to Diabetes Management Workshops covering varied topics by global experts including Dr Ajay Chaudhuri, renowned Diabetes specialist from USA, Dr V Seshiah, Pioneer in ‘Pregnancy & Diabetes’, Dr Anil Kapur, Chairman World Diabetes Foundation, Dr Shaukat Sadikot, Rich Bryson from UK, Padma Shri Dr Anoop Mishra & others.
Yoga Guru, H H Swami Adhyatmanandji will conduct a ‘Happiness Workshop’. Diabetes is India’s fastest growing disease with 72 million cases recorded in 2017 that will go up 134 million in 2045 while by that time world figure will be around 9.5 billion. The huge gap between knowledge and practical application has to be minimized through empowerment of practitioners to enhance the benefits.
The conference is being looked upon as a platform to enable this. India’s holistic view when it comes to health and wellness and encompasses yoga, meditation and other forms of fitness will also be tapped during the congregation, he added.
“The content of the conference is tailored to empower practicing doctors with knowledge and confidence to provide quality services to their patients. For the first time, technology-based ongoing clinical and educational support will be provided after the conference to all interested delegates throughout the year,” said Dr Patel.
