Fire breaks out at Kolkata Medical College; no casualty

A major fire broke out at a pharmacy shop in the MCH building within the compound of Kolkata Medical College in the city on October 3.
However, there has been no casualty so far. Ten fire engines, which have been pressed into service, have been fighting to douse the blaze. The medicine shop caught fire at around 8 am. The patients' parties have been complaining that the procurement of medicines is becoming difficult following the fire at the medicine shop.
Kolkata Corporation Mayor Shovan Chatterjee has rushed to the spot the oversee the operation. the Director General of Fire Brigade is also present and personally monitoring the situation. The DG hoped the fire would be brought under control soon. Locals along with Hospital staff have been shifting the patients to safety on a war-footing to avert any eventuality and at least 250 patients have been shifted so far to safer areas.
Fire fighters along with Disaster Management personnel are fighting to tame the blaze and trying to enter the shop by breaking the shutter as plumes of smoke have engulfed the hospital building forcing the panicky people to run haywire.
