Fire at Kolkata medical college, no casualties

A fire broke out at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital this evening triggering panic among the patients and their family members.
Police said, the fire was first seen at around 1700 hours. inside a bathroom on the second floor of the hospital's RRM Block and soon smoke reached the medicine ward located nearby. Altogether three fire tenders, local police, Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel and hospital's staffers rushed to the scene. Firemen fought for nearly 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control, police said.
However, there was no report of any causality in the incident, a fire official said "After the fire broke out, our staffers and security personnel reached the building and evacuated all patients and others from the nearby wards. No person was injured in the incident,"an official of the state-run hospital said. “We have started an investigation to know the exact reason of the fire. The hospital authority, local police and fire department have started probe into the cause of the fire,a senior fire brigade official said.
