UNI Feb 23, 2018
Enforcement Directorate (ED) today interrogated former Superintendent of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) Dr O P Chaudhary on charges of money laundering in connection with medical scam during his regime as Superintendent.
Officials of ED interrogated Dr Chaudhary for several hours on charges of money laundering, an offshoot of medical scam engineered in PMCH when he was its Superintendent. He was quizzed to seek details of properties and other investments made by him from the money allegedly siphoned from the fund meant for purchase of medicines and medical equipments, sources said. In other developments ED issued notice to wife and daughter of Bachcha Rai in connection with toppers scam and they had been directed to appear for interrogation for violation of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on February 23.
Bail petition of RJD MLC Ritlal Rai was rejected by Patna High Court in connection with violation of PMLA after ED vigorously opposed it on the ground that he may influence witnesses using his political clout, if granted bail.
ED will also issue summon again directing JD(U) MLA Dadan Singh alias Dadan Yadav and his family members for interrogation in connection with violation of PMLA. Mr Yadav and his family members had not responded to summons issued earlier for interrogation.
