Senior Professor and former-Head of the Department of Radiotherapy Dr S Vivekanandam was appointed as Acting Director of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry following the order of the President, an official statement said on June 7.

A graduate from Rangaraya medical College Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh ,Vivekanandam did his Post-graduation in Radiotherapy from Andhra Medical College,Visakhapatinam, Andhra Pradesh. He is a teacher, doctor and researcher par excellence and has been in the field of Hospital Management, Medical Education &Medical Research for more than three decades. He has vast experience in hospital management and administration. He is pioneer in the field of Radiotherapy and had published 70 scientific papers in various national and international journals, it said.
