Dr V Mohan receives this year's Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes by ADA

Dr V Mohan, a noted diabetologist from India has been selected by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Awards Committee as the 2018 recipient of the Harold Rifkin Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes Award. He is the first Indian to receive this honour.
This award is given in memory of Harold Rifkin, to honor outstanding service in the cause of diabetes that has been performed with an international perspective and with international impact, this award recognizes those whose efforts have increased the awareness of the burden of diabetes worldwide to improve the care and lives of those with diabetes.
Dr. Mohan will be recognized with this honor at the Association's 78th Scientific Sessions, June 22-26, 2018 in Orlando, Florida .
Padma Shri Dr. V. Mohan, an eminent Indian Diabetologist, has been working in the field of diabetes for over 30 years in Chennai in southern India. His research combines clinical, epidemiological and genomic aspects of diabetes. He has published over 875 papers including over 550 original research articles in peer reviewed journals, over 140 chapters in text books on diabetes, endocrinology and Internal Medicine and several invited reviews and editorials.
Dr. Mohan has received numerous awards and Fellowships. These includes the Padma Shri National Award by the Govt. of India for his accomplishments in the field of diabetology.
