Dr. Gagandeep Kang- first Indian female scientist to be elected to The Royal Society of London

Dr. Gagandeep Kang, from the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, Fardiabad is the first Indian woman to be elected to FRS by The Royal Society of London.
She currently serves as the Technical Director at the institute and is involved in a research study of transmission and development of enteric infections among children in India. She has been instrumental in building national surveillance networks for rotavirus and typhoid, and in the development of vaccines for neglected tropical diseases. Dr. Kang also serves as a Professor of Gastrointestinal Sciences at CMC, Vellore, India. In 2016, she was also awarded the prestigious Infosys Prize in Life Sciences for contributions to research in rotavirus.
