DOTS clinic will help in govt’s effort to eliminate TB by 2025: Ashok Chandra

Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) clinic will help in government’s effort to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, Ashok Chandra, Chairman, Sir Ganga Ram Trust Society has said.

Mr Chandra was speaking at the inauguration of DOTS clinic at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on 7th August. 'Our hospital is always at the forefront for partnering with the government’s various health initiatives. I am sure that this DOTS clinic will help in government’s effort to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025', he said.

Dr D S Rana, Chairman (Board of Management), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said, 'In an effort to systematically engage with the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) through public-private partnership, this DOTS clinic will help in providing treatment under one roof for patients suffering from all forms of Tuberculosis coming to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.'

Dr Rana further added,"Under this PPP model, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital will provide infrastructure and trained manpower. Medicines and investigations will be provided free of cost under RNTCP. In addition to this, all patients undergoing treatment at this DOTS clinic will get Rs 500 per month directly in their accounts for improved nutrition under 'Nikshay Poshan Yojana' of the government.'

Dr Ashwini Khanna, State Tuberculosis Officer, RNTCP said,'This will be an unique experiment under PPP model with Delhi’s first large tertiary care private hospital with an aim to eliminate tuberculosis from India by 2025."
