Times of India Nov 06, 2018
Doctors at Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI) have successfully operated on the femur bone of an 8-year old girl from Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, who was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma.
Doctors replaced her hip and knee joints together by replacing the entire bone. The girl underwent the surgery in December 2016 and has now completely regained use and control of her leg. Dr. Abhijit Salunke, bone cancer surgeon at GCRI mentioned that less than 100 such surgeries have been performed in India.
