Doctors diagnose co-infection of several diseases in single patient

Health Issues India Oct 27, 2018

Doctors at Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur earlier this week were shocked to see a 63-year old patient coinfected with several diseases.

Doctors mentioned that this is very uncommon and rare. The woman who was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, breathing issues, poor platelet count, and liver and kidney problems was found to be suffering from three infectious diseases- scrub typhus, dengue fever, and chikungunya at the same time. The patient died a few days after undergoing treatment at the hospital, but doctors have noted that her condition was extremely rare and such coinfection cases could present multiple problems in proper diagnosis because all of these present with very similar symptoms.
