Doctors, advocates enter electoral fray in Bihar
UNI Apr 05, 2019
With musclemen and their relatives, now doctors and advocates are also flexing their muscles in Lok Sabha election in Bihar this time.
Union minister and renowned lawyer Ravi Shankar Prasad is contesting Lok Sabha election from prestigious Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency from where BJP denied ticket to actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, a long time critic of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Prasad`s main rival would be Mr Sinha, who would be Congress nominee from the seat.
Mr Prasad will contest election for the first time even as he would be seen how he ‘builds up his case’ against alleged lacklustre five year tenure of Mr Sinha as BJP MP. Similarly, RJD chief Lalu Prasad`s eldest daughter Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha member and also an MBBS degree holder, is pitted against union minister and BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav, himself a law graduate in Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency.
Both NDA and grand alliance have posed their faith in good number of doctors and advocates this time. BJP candidate from Saran and sitting MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy is also a law graduate. Similarly, Congress candidate from Sasaram (reserved) Lok Sabha constituency Meira Kumar, RJD candidate and former union minister Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav from Banka, RJD candidate from Buxar Jagdanand Singh and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) candidate from Jamui (reserved) constituency Bhudeo Chaudhary are also law graduates.
BJP candidate and union minister Raj Kumar Singh and CPI (ML) candidate from Ara Lok Sabha constituency are also law graduates. BJP has reposed its faith in sitting MP and doctor Sanjay Jaiswal contesting election from West Champaran constituency. Similarly, Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP), a constituent of grand alliance, has fielded Dr Rajbhushan Chaudhary Nishad from Muzaffarpur seat.
JD (U) has fielded another MBBS degree holder Dr Ashok Kumar Suman from Gopalganj constituency. Even Congress was not behind in the race of fielding advocates and doctors in the election as party fielded Dr Mohammed Javed from Kishanganj and Dr Ashok Kumar from Samastipur.
