Koraput, Odisha's district administration has ordered a probe after a selfie clicked by a female surgeon inside the operation theatre when a patient was giving birth, went viral on social media.

Dr. Sashmita Das who clicked the selfie was working as part of the team at the District Head Hospital, Jeypore. She clicked the selfie midway during surgery. When questioned Dr. Das mentioned that it was everyone's decision in the OT to click the selfie, as this was the first surgery in the hospital since it moved from Koraput to a new campus. The photo became viral on social media after it was uploaded to the hospital's WhatsApp group. Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer has said that a probe will be ordered to investigate the matter and action will be taken after receiving the report.
