A doctor was manhandled after a teenager allegedly died of snake bite in Jourian area here on city outskirts on 1st August.

Meanwhile the family and relatives of the deceased also staged protest at Jourian Health Centre. Police said that one Mukesh Kumar,13, of Chak Malal, Khour was brought to Jourian Health Centre this morning by the family as he was reportedly bitten by a snake.

"The family claimed that the doctor on duty did not provided emergency treatment to him and he died," police added. They said that the villagers staged protest and also manhandled the doctor but police team acted swiftly and rescued him. "We have registered a case and started the investigation while the exact cause of boy's death is yet to be ascertained but the family claimed that it was a snake bite," said police.
