A man from Meerut has accused a Gurgaon-based doctor who cheated him of Rs.10 lakhs.

The man had met the doctor to seek treatment for his wife, who had suffered burns last year. The man approached the doctor after enquiring at several places and finding out that the surgery and treatment would cost Rs. 20 lakhs. The accused, Dr. TR Patnaik lured the man saying that he will give him a 50% discount if the man was ready to make an advance payment. The man paid him 10 lakhs in total in two installments, but the doctor kept delaying treatment for his wife. Upon, investigating further, the man found out that he was among several others who were cheated by the doctor. The accused has now been booked under sections 406 and 420.
