Doctor arrested on charges of setting fire to parked cars

A doctor was arrested on Thursday on the charges of allegedly setting fire to parked cars in the city which created panic among the residents of apartments.
Dr. Amit Gaikwad, who is working at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) originally hails from Kalaburagi. He set fire to seven cars parked on a road in front of apartments and bungalow in Jadhav Nagar and other places in Belagavi city in the early hours of Wednesday. Police said that the doctor may also be behind similar incidents reported in Kalaburagi recently. CCTV footage showed three culprits who came in a car set fire to the parked cars. They were wearing helmets to avoid being spotted and their car had no number plate, police sources said. Deputy Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar (Law & Order) addressing the mediapersons said the doctor was seen pouring petrol and place camphor on the car and set on fire. He said that the reason for his act is yet to be ascertained.
