Expressing his angst at the lack of facilities during a surprise inspection of a city health centre, District Magistrate (DM) Vijay Vishwas Pant of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district has sought a clarification from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Following an inspection of the Urban Health Center situated in the Rawatpur area, Mr Pant said that there should be no lack of health facilities. The patients should receive quality treatment and any kind of laxity in this aspect will not be tolerated.
Mr Pant said that the Out Patient Department (OPD) should commence on time at health centres, Primary Health Centers (PHC), Community Health Centers (CHC) and government hospitals and special attention should be paid towards hygiene and cleanliness, adding that the anti-mosquito spray should be sprinkled in the hospital premises and there should be no dearth of the same.
Upon finding the absence of three ANMs in the attendance register during the inspection, the DM has sought a clarification from the CMO and also gave directions for action to be taken against Chief Doctor Anita Chaudhary when she arrived there. The DM also inspected the stock room wherein IV bottles had been damaged by rats.
The DM also found that adequate medicines as per the stock mentioned in the register were not present whereas the medicines and items kept in the stock room were found lying in a dis-organised manner. He also inspected the minor Operation Theatre (OT) room whose bed was found broken, the bed-sheet was dirty untidy, the anti-mosquito spray had also been kept in the room itself. Even the oxygen cylinders were stored in the OT.
