With growing air pollution and increase in number of people with pulmonary problems, the demand for portable oxygen cans is increasing in India, says a company which manufactures cans and lightweight oxygen cylinders.
Delhi Cryogenic Products Pvt Ltd, which is manufacturing the products under the brand name OXY99, on November 19 announced its foray into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad-based Bluewater Alkaline Solutions will distribute the products manufactured with technology from Italian health major ING L&A Boschi in both the Telugu states.
The portable oxygen can, weighing just 120 grams and can be used for 150 inhalations with shelf life of two years, will be available at medical stores across Telangana by the end of next month. The company plans to roll out distribution in Andhra Pradesh next year.
Priced at Rs 650, it can be used by people suffering from asthma or other respiratory disorders, breathlessness, tiredness, headaches, mental and physical stress, wheezing and coughing, said Kalisetti Naidu, CMD, Bluewater Alkaline Solutions.
The company also manufactures 75 litres to 1,700 litres oxygen cylinders with price ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 27,000. Shiv Sharma, Zonal Manager, Delhi Cryogenic, said the company was selling 150,000 products a month in 12 states across India. He said 50,000 products were being sold in Ladakh alone.
The company has 50,000 cans per day capacity and this can be increased to 150,000 per day to meet the growing demand. Launched early last year, Delhi Cryogenic claims to be the only firm in India to manufacture portable oxygen cans and cylinders made of aluminium in India.
