DCs, CMOs asked to achieve cent per cent immunisation of children under MR campaign

The Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) on May 22 directed all Deputy Commissioners and Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of districts to achieve cent per cent immunisation of children under the measles and rubella campaign.
Mr Jowel also directed health officers and officials to make pucca arrangements for the prevention and control of the spread of dengue, diarrhoea, malaria and other diseases in view of the upcoming rainy season. The ACS was presiding over a review meeting of the measles and rubella campaign with DCs and CMOs through video-conferencing in Fatehabad.Under the measles and rubella campaign, special camps would be held for immunisation of students in playway schools, government and private schools as well as madarsas from nursery to class X.
Later, children of all anganwadi centres would be vaccinated and those in high risk areas, including slum areas and brick kilns, would be vaccinated through a mobile team of the department. Mr Jowel directed all CMOs and PMOs not to leave station without permission of their respective DCs. In case of any urgent work, they can leave station with DC’s permission. Health officials were told to keep themselves updated about the prevention of diseases that occur during the rainy season.
He also directed DCs to periodically monitor and review the works being done by officers of the Health Department. CMOs and Deputy CMOs were told to be present in the OPDs twice a week. As there is less workload on the doctors deputed in dispensaries, they would be deputed in civil hospitals to provide people better healthcare facilities, he added.
