Dalits warn of agitation if suspension of health employees’ union leader not withdrawn

UNI Apr 15, 2019

Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Welfare Association (APSCWA) has expressed its strong resentment over the suspension of State president of AP Public health and medical employees union G Askararao on flimsy grounds and warned the district administration of launching agitation enlisting the support of other dalit unions, if the suspension is not lifted unconditionally.

Bhupati Siddhartha Kumar and Bhupati Ganga Rushyendrudu presidents of district and city unit of the association respectively in a statement here on Saturday alleged that Askararao was suspended for expressing his support to YSRCP president Jaganmohanreddy for his assurance to employees on implementation of 27 percent interim relief, besides giving effect to payment of equal wages for equal work policy.

Alleging that Askararao was suspended as he was a dalit, they questioned the propriety in not initiating action similar against other union leaders who openly issued statements and even campaigned supporting the ruling party. They demanded the Collector to withdraw the suspension order or else they warned of launching statewide agitation for discriminating a dalit leader.
