Curriculum for MBBS revised after 21 years
The Hindu Nov 06, 2018
After 21 years, the MCI board of governors have finally revised the curriculum for MBBS students, focusing equally on training in attitude, ethics, and good patient communication.
The new curriculum, called 'Competency-based UG curriculum for the Indian Medical Graduate' will no longer be based on rote learning. It will come into effect from August 2019. The new curriculum is more patient-centric, will teach proper maintenance of health records, ethics, building good communication skills, and give more importance to mental health. Students will also be assessed on how well they can communicate with patient relatives, get consent from families for organ donation, and perform challenging procedures.
