"The COVID positive result status should not be conveyed to the individual (patient) by the authorities of the government or the private laboratories by any means," said a health official. All government and private laboratories should upload the details of COVID positive and negative cases on the ICMR portal on a daily basis. The laboratories should also submit the details of positive results to the concerned district surveillance officers, COVID surveillance officers, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bengaluru and state surveillance units.
In the event of a violation, authorities will recommend de-recognising the laboratories. "If labs deviate from this, they would be recommended for de-recognition by BBMP," said a civic body official about labs located in the city. Currently, more than 75 laboratories are testing the virus samples in this southern state. So far, Karnataka has tested more than 5.81 lakh samples for COVID.
