An elderly woman with recent travel history to the UK has tested positive for coronavirus in Mohali, an official said on March 20. This took the total number of positive cases in the state to three.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner confirmed on March 20 that the 69-year-old was diagnosed positive by the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). He said that the samples of two of her family members have been collected for testing. The first patient in the state, a resident of Italy, is undergong treatment in Amritsar, while the second patient, 70, belonging to SBS Nagar, died on March 19.
Doctors said that he was suffering from diabetes and hypertension and was initially home quarantined. He reported to a government hospital on March 18 with complaint of chest pain. His samples were sent to the PGIMER which were found positive. The cause of death was cardiac arrest on the day of hospitalisation.
